Top 5 factors determining job satisfaction

0

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been talking about statistics. The bar chart is about the top 5 factors determining job satisfaction. The chart is divided into 5 parts, which are salary, quality of work environment, flexibility to work outside the office or at home, relationship with line manager, being able to determine how work gets done. It is taken from our school book of the 5th form.
The highest percentage, which is 55%, is the salary. The second important factor of job satisfaction is quality of work environment with 37%. For one out of three persons finds, that flexibility to work outside the office or at home is also important. Relationship with line manager and being able to determine how work gets done are factors, which are not as much important as the other factors. Only 29% of those polled find, these factors are important.
So, we can say that the most important factor determining job satisfaction is salary and the least is being able to determine how work gets done. There are more than 50%, who insist on salary.

Perg: main square and city hall

0

Hi guys,

I would like to tell you about two tourism attraction in Perg.

The first attraction is the main square, which runs through Perg. It offers many shops and other possibilities to spend money, for example the night club “Jederzeit” or the fitness center “Happy Fit”. I know some friends, who sometimes walk on the main square to do some shopping.

Let me move on to the second attraction, the city hall. The city hall was built in 1876. It is placed in the centre of Perg, next to the parish church. The main task of the city hall is to represent the town. It is also the center of administration, that’s why the mayor’s office is also there. The current mayor is Anton Froschauer, who has been mayor since 2007.

I hope, I could give you a short insight of Perg’s tourism attractions. So move on and visit Perg!

New trends in tourism

1

First of all, what does tourism mean overall?
Tourism has 2 simple definitions. The first definition is, the activity of traveling to a place for pleasure and the second definition is, the business of providing hotels, restaurants, entertainment, etc., for people who are traveling.

Crowdsourcing of luxury hotels
This means luxury hotels are no longer financed by banks and investments, but they are financed by private people. So the new hotels offer unique features, which were chosen by the people, who deposited in these hotels. So it is possible to build individuals luxury hotels.

Smart Travel
The advent of wearable tech starts a new era of travel and tourism. While apps have provided some customization and reviews from individual travellers have offered tourists more and more information about the best places to see, eat and sleep.

Destination Iran
Global relations with Iran have been improving over the past couple of years, in part due to a call for increased cooperation with Middle Eastern countries. Although Iran receives millions of visitors each year, foreign travel companies are now ready to enter the market, thus opening it up to increasing external tourism and potentially making the country one of the must-see location for 2016.

Solo Traveling

More and more people, who are interested in traveling solo, are millennials. Some suggest that millennials travel more than their parents and grandparents, simply because travel is more affordable and accessible than it was in the past. But the leading reason for solo travel is that it’s quite simply easier to plan a trip for 1 than for 2 or more.

Words List:

Burning Man

1

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been talking about two festivals, the "Holi" festival and the "Burning Man". I decided to write a comment on the second one.

The "Burning Man" is a festival, which takes place in the Black Rock Dessert every year. The festival has nearly 50,000 visitors every year, so it is one of the biggest in the USA. Burning Man is a huge art festival, where everybody is encouraged to perform and organise activities. To be naked is normally strictly forbidden in the USA, but it is allowed at Burning Man.
The use of money is strictly forbidden, as well as any type of automobiles.

In my opinion the Burning Man is a great festival, because nowhere else you are allowed to express yourself and show your lifestyle as at this place. Profitability does not exist at this festival, so for few days a year, the people, who visit Burning Man, have nothing to think about. Altogether Burning Man is a crazy festival, where you can do what you want.

What do you think about Burning Man? Please, write a comment

Our trip to france

1

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been talking about our trip to France last school year. So I want to give you a short summary of our journey.

The trip starts on Friday the 17th June 2016 with a flight from Vienna to Paris, which lasts 1 hour 30 minutes. After that we went to Saint Malo by bus, which is on the north-west coast of France. We stayed at host families in groups of two.  The settling-in period lasts only one evening, then on Saturday we went to Dinard by ship. In the evening I celebrated my 18th birthday with the whole class in an Irish pub. On Sunday we were allowed to do something on our own. On Monday and Tuesday, we had to go to a French class for 6 hours and in the afternoon we did some sightseeing.

After these 4 days in Saint Malo, we returned to Paris by bus to watch the international match between Austria and Iceland. We stayed in Paris to do some sightseeing for 2 days. Finally the trip ends on Friday the 24th June 2016.

I will never forget this journey, because it was the first time for me to make holiday in France. This was my short review of our language trip. I hope, I could give you a little summary.

30th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident

1

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been watching a documentation about the disaster, which happened in Chernobyl exactly 30 year ago. I have to summarize the first 45 minutes of the documentation. First of all, the accident is described, the security systems were deactivated to try a new way of safety measure. After this, suddenly the atomic plant exploded and radioactivity ran in the sky, so the clouds were contaminated. Two 2 men died immediately in this night and several men the following months. This accident is called the most serious accident in the European history. The first journalist, who reported about the accident, flew by a helicopter across the reactor and opened the window so he exposed himself radioactivity. It was also said, that this blast contained 100 times more radiation than the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. While a metering of radioactivity in Pripyat, the equipment showed a value, which was 500,000 times higher than the normal value. First after 3 days the city, which had 50,000 inhabitants, was evacuated. The people had only 2 hours to get all their belongings.

Finally, the documentation reports, that the first Europeans, who noticed that something went wrong in Chernobyl, were the Swedes.

This was my short review of the first 45 minutes of the documentation. I hope, I could give you a little summary.

Public health care in Austria

0

Hi guys,

in our last English lesson we have discussed about public health care. So I would like to make a short comment on that. In Austria the essential health services are paid by the government. But what services are regarded as ‘essential’? I’m going to examine 3 cases of operations with a fine-tooth comp and I will decide, if the operation costs should be paid by the government or by the persons on their own.
The first case is, a tattoo which the patient says causing him mental distress. In my opinion the patient has to pay on his own, because he decides to have this tattoo. For example, it is the name of his ex-girlfriend, it was his mistake to get tattooed. Now he has to accept his mistake and pay for the removal.
The second case is, a cosmetic surgery on an actor’s large nose. On this case I’m also in the favour, that the actor has to pay. It’s the same, if a footballer wants to get taller, because he will win more header-duels. There is no reason, why the government should pay for the success of someone.
The third and last case I’m going to talk about is, a breast reduction on a 13-year-old who is being teased at school. In my opinion this should be paid by the government, because no child should suffer in his childhood and if it only could be change by a breast reduction, the government should pay the costs.
Now you can think about this topic, do you agree with me in this 3 cases or not?

state of emergency extension in France

0

I was reading an article the other day in the online edition of BBC News and it talks about the state of emergency extension for EURO 2016 in France.

I thought you might be interested because the majority of us is going to watch a football game on our trip to France.

It has now been a topic since November 2015, when the Paris attacks happened.

Basically, the article relates that the French government plans to extend a state of emergency, which was imposed after the Paris attacks in November, to cover the Euro 2016 football tournament.

It also says that the current state of emergency, which gives police extra powers to conduct searches and place people under house arrest, runs until 26 May. The state of emergency was last extended for three months in February.

As you might know, the Stade de France football stadium, which was targeted by suicide bombers, will host the opening match of Euro 2016 and the final.

What interested me most was that the French government instruct 1,200 security officials to care for safety in the Stade de France football stadium and an average of 900 across all stadiums.

What shocked me most was that on Friday last week more than 3,500 searches and 400 arrests had been carried out since the state of Emergency was first imposed in November.

What do you think about the safety measures in France?

My internship

0

Hi guys,

last week I had to do an internship.  I applied as an office clerk at the company, called “buntmetall amstetten”. I worked 7 days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., so I stayed at the company for about 38.5 hours.

The main task, which was in my responsibility, was to change all the packaging codes of the materials. Let me explain this. Every material has one packaging code, so the operatives know how to pack the goods. The new packaging codes have the purpose to make the packing more understandable. So it is easier for the operatives to work faster and they are able to pack more goods in less time.

Furthermore, my colleagues were very nice and helpful. If I have the chance to work there again, I would take it. In the summer holiday I’m going to work again in “buntmetall amstetten”, but not in the office, but in the factory.

This was my week as a worker in a short form. I hope, I could give you a little view, what I have done.

Saint Patrick's Day

0

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been talking about the Saint Patrick’s Day in the whole world. Our teacher gives us the task to write about this holy day for the Irish Christians and to give our own opinion.

First of all, this day is the feast day of Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland and a day of celebration for Irish people. It is celebrated on 17th March all over the world. There are a lot of parades everywhere in the world, for example Munich, London, Dublin and New York, but these are only few cities, where parades take place. Furthermore, it is a very Irish festival and it involves a lot of feasting and celebrations, which includes traditional Irish music, drinking Guinness and eating bacon. Another tradition is, if one doesn’t wear green clothes, they will be pinched.
In my opinion, the idea of celebrating a patron is very nice. I’m not sure, whether we have such big parties for celebrating holy days in Austria, I don’t think so. On the other side we celebrate such days on another way. To put it in a nutshell, I like how the Irish people celebrate their Saints and I wish this would also be the case in Austria.

What do you think about the Saint Patrick’s Day? Do you celebrate it?
Please write a comment.

Donald Trump and the big, beautiful WALL

0

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been watching a video about an interview of Donald Trump in an American talkshow, called "The late show with Stephen Colbert".

Here is the link:

I think this video is kind of a comedy show. In my opinion an interview for the presidential election has to be informative and not as such funny. Donald Trump said, he wants to build a big, beautiful wall along the border of Mexico. I agree with Donald Trump to make the border more safety, but the idea of the wall is very preposterous. There are many other ways to stop illegal immigrants, for example a fence or policed borders. I look forward to presidential election in the USA and I am anxious, which result the election brings.

customer service

0

Hi guys,

last English lesson we have been talking about customer services. These are my tips for satisfied customers.

The most important aim is to achieve a win-win situation. If you have a hostile customer, don’t make the mistake of thinking ‘attack is the best form of defence’. You have always to respect the feelings of the customer. For this always listen carefully to the costumer. Here is the aim finding a way to discover what their expectations were.
For this case always be patient and focus your full attention on the costumer. If the customer has chosen what he wants, don’t react immediately. You always have to ask for clarification, that shows the customer, that you had listen carefully. Furthermore, avoid using phrases starting with the pronoun ‘you’ and always focus on the aim and not on the feelings of anger or resentment.

If you obey these tips, your customer will be satisfied and they will prefer your company to any other.
